Carotid stents implant research

Published: 2 Dec 2010

The implantation of carotid stents for the treatment of carotid disease has received significant publicity and focus.
While the data from large multinational studies appear to suggest no significant benefit for this technology in the treatment of carotid disease, it remains a legitimate technique in appropriate cases.
The South Australian experience with this technique is growing and Adelaide Vascular is undertaking a Registry and recall study to evaluate the efficacy of this treatment from the clinical perspective and best practice surveillance ultrasound criteria.
