Ultrasound evaluation can be used for the diagnosis of:

• Peripheral vascular disease
• Doppler and toe pressure perfusion test to evaluate severity of arterial insufficiency
• Varicose veins
• Deep vein thrombosis
• Venous insufficiency including the evaluation of varicose ulceration
• Carotid disease (transient ischemic attacks, stroke evaluation and risk of stroke evaluation)
• Aortic aneurysmal disease & screening and follow-up
• Aorto-iliac occlusive disease & claudication and leg pains
• Screening for peripheral vascular occlusive disease and carotid atherosclerotic disease in the at risk population – eg diabetics, smokers and patients with a history of vascular disease.
